Organic olive oil, USA beeswax, calendula, St. John’s wort, and arnica, with chamomile and lavender essential oils
Calendula (Calendula officinalis) is an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent, and a hemostatic and vulnerary. It is widely used to ease inflammation associated with eczema and psoriasis, and to promote healing of external wounds. As an added bonus, most of the calendula used in this recipe was grown with an immense amount of tender love and care by our very own little lady. The other two key players in this salve are St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum) and arnica (Arnica montana). St. John’s wort incorporates antibacterial, antioxidant, and antiviral properties. Arnica has been used medicinally since the 1500’s and is used today to soothe muscle aches and reduce inflammation.
